The David sofa, designed by Castello Lagravinese Studio in collaboration with the BertO Research and Development Team, is among the winners of the Archiproducts Design Awards 2025 in the Furniture category.
The prestigious international recognition, assigned by a jury made up of architects, designers and creatives from all over the world, celebrates excellence and innovation in contemporary design, confirming the value of a project created to redefine the quality of living.
The jury chose David for his ability to combine aesthetics, comfort and advanced research into materials, in a balance that combines design rigor and softness of shape.
A project that combines research, aesthetics and technology
David was born from an important research project dedicated to rethinking design, comfort and customization.
Inspired by the creative freedom of David Bowie, it is made from 24 combinable elements : the raised structure and the hidden feet create a suspended effect, while the armrest – in goose down or natural oak – integrates USB-C and, in the wooden version, also the wireless charger .
Comfort comes from a composition studied in detail: high density polyurethane, memory foam and goose down quilt .
The back cushions, single or double, allow different postures with a simple gesture. The absence of nails and fired staples and the presence of pre-calibrated and pre-tensioned straps ensure resistance, durability and an approach consistent with the principles of the circular economy.
Sustainable production and excellent materials
David’s production process integrates sustainable solutions such as the EcoSeal Master gluing system, which eliminates the use of harmful solvents and significantly reduces the amount of glue needed, increasing safety for workers and improving the quality of the final product.
The sofa is completely removable both in the leather version Space and in the fabrics of the Mars collection.
