BertO officially presents the Eco Bags, designed to completely replace plastic, bubble wrap, cellophane and adhesive tape during the transport of sofas, armchairs and beds. A concrete solution that was born in the operational heart of the company – the warehouse and logistics – and which today allows us to eliminate 12 plastic containers per year.
For decades, like almost the entire upholstery sector, traditional packaging has made extensive use of plastic materials. It works, it’s quick, immediate, adaptable. But it’s not sustainable.
From this awareness an internal path of continuous research began, which led to the birth of the Eco Bag : technical bags made of Airtex, a robust, recyclable and reusable material.
Each Eco Bag is custom designed: there is a dedicated bag for every sofa, armchair or bed, in every size. Usage is simple.
After each delivery, the Eco Bags return to the warehouse, are cleaned, sanitized and put back into circulation. Many have exceeded 100 uses without showing signs of deterioration.
Thanks to direct delivery with a “white glove” service, each BertO showroom has multiple sets of Eco Bags to ensure continuity and speed in managing shipments. The company started this process with the aim of achieving total packaging conversion.
AN OPEN CHALLENGE FOR THE MADE IN MEDA DISTRICT
For BertO this innovation is not an advantage to be retained, but a responsibility to be shared. For this reason, the company has chosen not to patent the system and invites companies in the design and furniture district to adopt the same approach. Sharing methods and solutions means amplifying the positive impact and building together a new standard for sustainable logistics.
«If other companies introduce Eco Bags, the environmental benefit will be enormous. Sustainability is not an issue to be addressed alone: ??it is a path to be pursued together”, says Filippo Berto, CEO of the company.
BertO therefore makes its experience available and offers support to those who wish to adopt the system, opening up a constructive challenge that strengthens the role of Made in Meda as an international laboratory of responsible innovation.
BertO’s growth path, led by Filippo Berto, CEO, has combined craftsmanship and digitalization of production processes, optimizing times, quality and the customer purchasing experience. The company was a digital pioneer in the sector, with the first dedicated blog and innovative campaigns, receiving recognition from Google as a Case Study.
BertO takes care of direct communication without intermediaries, consolidating the relationship with those who choose its products and personally following every phase: from design and production, up to delivery and after-sales assistance.
