IGGY , the new sofa designed by Castello Lagravinese Studio with the R&S BertO team , has been selected for the ADI Design Index 2025 , the prestigious publication that anticipates the candidates for the Compasso d’Oro , the most authoritative recognition of Italian design. A confirmation of BertO’s role as one of the most innovative realities on the contemporary design scene.
The project stands out for its radical approach to upholstery: IGGY in fact overcomes traditional construction limits thanks to a structure that combines shaped steel crosspieces and elements in Baydur® , reuse materials that respond to the principles of circular economy . The continuity of the curved shapes arises precisely from this advanced engineering research.
It took 18 months of design to achieve a perfect balance between shape, stability and lightness . The modular structure, composed of 25 combinable elements , allows customizable configurations based on space and lifestyle, confirming the brand’s sartorial vocation.
IGGY, the BertO sofa with a non-conformist design, inspired by Iggy Pop
The identity of the sofa is reflected in its name: IGGY pays homage to the nonconformism of Iggy Pop, translating it into a fluid, soft and seamless design language. The foamed backrest and armrests work in synergy with a differentiated tension belt system, while the Baydur® inserts and the shaped steel crosspieces allow for sinuous lines and perfectly continuous surfaces.
Sustainability integrated into production processes
The IGGY construction process introduces concrete solutions for sustainability, such as the use of the EcoSeal Master gluing system, which eliminates the use of harmful solvents and drastically reduces glue consumption. A choice that protects both collaborators and customers, strengthening the brand’s environmental commitment.
BertO: contemporary craftsmanship and digital innovation
Led by CEO Filippo Berto , the company has developed a model that combines high-end craftsmanship and digitalization of production processes, optimizing times, quality and customer experience.
