There is something extraordinary in the ability to transform a material like glass into a key element of contemporary architecture. Luconi , founded in 1978 in Ancona , has been able to do just this: take an artisanal tradition rooted in the territory and project it into the future, through essential design, modular solutions and an innovative approach to the design of spaces.
Today, more than ever, the world of interior design is faced with an important challenge: creating flexible, sustainable environments capable of adapting to the new needs of living and working. Luconi responded to this transformation with partition walls and glass and aluminum systems that redefine the concept of space , offering solutions capable of combining aesthetics and functionality. From large corporate headquarters to the retail world, to the interiors of international brands such as LinkedIn, Bacardi and Cartier , the company continues to push the boundaries of conventional design.
We had the pleasure of talking about it with Diego Baiocchi , CEO of Luconi , who in this interview tells us how an apparently simple material can become the fulcrum of innovation , and how the company is facing the new challenges of the sector: from the growing demand for customization to the fusion between work spaces, retail and hospitality.
At Luconi we have a very clear idea: the first of the values on which a company is based is the quality of its people.
Founded in 1978 in Ancona, Luconi has built its identity on glass processing and continuous innovation in the sector of partition walls and glass doors. How crucial was the territorial context of the Marche in your evolution and how did it influence your vision of design?
The territorial context of the Marche region has played a fundamental role in the evolution of Luconi, helping to shape its vision of design and its corporate identity. The Marche is a region with a strong manufacturing tradition, especially in the furniture and design sector, characterized by a unique mix of craftsmanship and industrial innovation. This environment has favored the growth of companies like Luconi, which has been able to draw on a highly specialized local production fabric and a culture of “know-how” typical of Made in Italy.
Furthermore, the Marche landscape, with its cities of art, historic architecture and natural beauty, inspired the company to develop products with an elegant and minimal design, capable of combining aesthetics and functionality. Luconi’s vision has evolved in a context in which the quality of materials and attention to detail are essential elements, leading it to transform glass from a simple structural element to a protagonist in contemporary architecture.
The influence of the territory is also reflected in the company’s ability to adapt to new market trends, maintainingat the same time I have a strong connection with the artisan tradition. Thanks to this balance between innovation and heritage, Luconi has managed to expand and establish itself in the sector of glass and aluminum partition solutions, offering products that stand out for quality, sustainability and versatility.
In over four decades of activity, Luconi has transformed glass from a simple construction material to an essential element of contemporary architecture. How has your design changed over the years and what were the key moments that defined the brand’s identity?
Over the course of over forty years, Luconi has constantly evolved its design thanks to a path based on technological innovation, aesthetic research and functionality, which has led the company to establish itself in its reference market.
Since the 1980s and 1990s, initially focused on glass processing, Luconi has expanded its know-how by integrating aluminium, a choice that has revolutionized the lightness and resistance of its systems. In the early 2000s, the company introduced modular and flexible solutions for partition walls and glass doors, responding to the new needs of work and residential spaces. Recently, attention has focused on sustainability, acoustic insulation and adaptability of environments, anticipating contemporary design trends.
Three fundamental stages have marked the evolution of Luconi: the introduction of aluminium, which made the systems lighter and more elegant; international expansion, consolidated thanks to collaborations with global brands as in the case of LinkedIn or Bacardi in Milan, or Jaquemus or Messika or Cartier in Paris; and the commitment to sustainability, with the use of recyclable materials and low-impact production processes.
Thanks to this evolution, Luconi is today a point of reference in interior design, offering elegant and functional solutions, capable of responding to the needs of a constantly changing market.
