Porro is an Italian company specialising in design modular systems, wardrobes, bookcases, tables, seating, beds, storage units and furnishing accessories. Founded in 1925 in Brianza, the historic district of Italian furniture, it is now one of the leading interpreters of contemporary Made in Italy design.
Its identity comes from the meeting of manufacturing culture, design research and technological innovation. In fact, Porro’s language stands out for its formal purity, construction precision, sophisticated finishes and strong ability to dialogue with interior architecture.
The heart of its production lies in modular systems, designed to organise space with an architectural approach. Wardrobes, walk-in closets, bookcases and storage units therefore become flexible tools for defining residential and contract interiors, while maintaining visual continuity, functionality and maximum customisation.
Moreover, Porro creates its collections in an advanced production facility, with an approach focused on sustainability and process quality. Thanks to proprietary technologies and continuous research into materials, woods and finishes, the company develops bespoke solutions that combine industrial precision with artisanal sensitivity.
Collections and iconic products
Porro’s iconic systems and products tell the story of the brand’s evolution: from bookcases to living systems, from wardrobes to architectural partitions, each project introduces a different way of interpreting living spaces.
- Load-it bookcase: designed by Wolfgang Tolk in 1995, it redefined the concept of shelving. Its thin folded steel shelves seem to suspend books in space, creating a light, graphic and timeless system.
- Modern system: designed by Piero Lissoni with the Porro Research Centre in 1996, it brings the concept of the wall-mounted storage unit into the living area. In addition, its modularity allows endless compositions for wall systems, storage units and day-area solutions.
- Storage system: designed by Piero Lissoni with the Porro Research Centre in 2000, it introduces design into the wardrobe project. By eliminating the side panel as a separating element, it integrates wardrobes, walk-in closets and boiserie into a single architectural system.
- Metallico table: designed by Piero Lissoni in 2011, it is an aluminium table in which form and structure coincide. For this reason, it combines technological innovation, artisanal workmanship and highly precise construction details.
- Romby chair: designed by GamFratesi in 2020, it features a solid ash base made of wedge-shaped sections and a compact upholstered seat. As a result, geometry, craftsmanship and comfort find a refined balance.
- Glide system: designed by Piero Lissoni with Iaco Design Studio in 2021, it integrates architecture and furniture through fixed, sliding or pivoting partitions. It redefines interior distribution by creating fluid, continuous and reconfigurable spaces.
Porro therefore stands out for its ability to transform furniture into interior architecture. Its modular systems and accessories express an essential, evolved and customisable Made in Italy identity, where technology, material and design culture create elegant and functional interiors.
