AIPI – Italian Association of Professional Interior Designers is an Italian interior design association founded in Milan in 1969. For more than half a century, it has brought together interior design professionals and supported the evolution of the profession in Italy, helping to strengthen its visibility, education, and design culture.
History
AIPI’s history began on March 14, 1969, when the association was founded as the Ordine Nazionale Arredatori, at a time when interior design was still seeking a clearer definition within the broader world of furnishings and decoration. Over time, the name evolved together with the discipline, eventually becoming the Italian Association of Professional Interior Designers, reflecting a sector that has progressively refined its language, identity, and professional role.
More than fifty years of activity, a national headquarters in Milan, and a presence built over time outline the profile of AIPI: an association that has consistently followed the evolution of the sector.
The role of AIPI in the design world
AIPI’s role is expressed on several levels: locally, through a network of regional branches; professionally, through representation, professional development, and qualification; and culturally, through its ability to promote a vision of interior design as a design discipline grounded in method, expertise, and responsibility.
For professionals, AIPI represents a network for exchange, growth, and ongoing education. For the sector as a whole, it helps make the value of the interior designer clearer and more widely recognized in the contemporary landscape.
The partnership with Archi&Interiors
AIPI’s presence on Archi&Interiors stems from a shared goal: to promote a clearer, more authentic, and more conscious design culture. On one side stands the association’s wealth of experience, relationships, and expertise; on the other, an editorial project that chooses to tell the story of design, companies, and contemporary living through an editorial, accessible, and culturally informed perspective.
