Best home alarm system brands: six European-market options

Six professional home alarm brands available in European markets, comparing hubs, wireless expansion, connectivity and support, with an Italian starter kit price example.

A home alarm should fit the way you live: protecting doors and windows while you are out, allowing movement around the house at night and making alerts easy to understand. The name on the control panel matters, but so do the design of the installation and the support available afterwards.

This selection of home alarm system brands covers Ajax, Inim, Bentel Security, RISCO, Tecnoalarm and SATEL, focusing on professional intruder alarm systems available in European markets. It brings together wireless, wired and hybrid options rather than comparing subscription packages sold worldwide. The order is not a security rating, and the selection is based on documented product features, not laboratory testing.

Which alarm brand should you consider?

Start with the installation. A finished interior may favour wireless devices to reduce cabling work; a renovation is an opportunity to consider wired provision. Hybrid systems can combine both approaches, using compatible detectors and expansion modules.

Six professional alarm brands: what to discuss with an installer
Brand and range Worth considering for Check before buying
Ajax · Hub 2 Plus Wireless alarms with photo verification Exact hub and detector models
Inim · PrimeX A modular installation to expand Included modules and licences
Bentel · ABSOLUTA PLUS Wired systems with PowerG wireless Compatibility and transceiver
RISCO · LightSYS+ Hybrid security and home integration Specified devices and services
Tecnoalarm · EV 10-50 Hybrid design with IP and 4G LTE Configuration and local support
SATEL · PERFECTA 64 M Wired security with wireless expansion Required wireless controller

Ajax: wireless security with photo verification

Ajax Hub 2 Plus provides Ethernet, Wi-Fi and two SIM slots for cellular connectivity. Compatible MotionCam detectors can supply photographs to help assess an alarm event. This is a different function from a camera recording continuously.

The wireless system with app control needs identifying by its hub: Hub 2 Plus and Hub 2 offer different connectivity. The quotation should name detectors, sirens and communication arrangements alongside it, beyond a generic “Ajax system”.

Inim: PrimeX and room for future expansion

Inim PrimeX is intended for residential and medium-sized commercial premises. Its enclosure accommodates a radio transmitter and LTE communicator; integrated LAN and Wi-Fi depend on the version. Licences can extend the system’s functions.

That flexibility can be useful when a home will change, but the quotation should distinguish functions already enabled from those needing a module or licence. Expansion is easier to evaluate when its conditions and likely additional costs are clear.

Bentel Security: ABSOLUTA PLUS for wired and hybrid systems

ABSOLUTA PLUS combines Bentel’s control panel platform with PowerG wireless technology. It can form a wired or hybrid installation with the compatible peripherals specified by the manufacturer.

Retaining useful wiring while adding wireless devices can be worth discussing. Existing parts, replacements and the inclusion of a wireless transceiver need assessing as a configuration, rather than assuming compatibility.

RISCO: LightSYS+ for a connected home project

LightSYS+ is RISCO’s hybrid platform, supporting professional detectors and the brand’s wireless alarm verification options. It also supports integration with RISCO smart home solutions.

The practical question is which functions your particular installation will provide. Have the installer separate app access, communications, cloud services and any professional monitoring in the proposal. An app’s availability does not establish which services will remain included in future years.

Tecnoalarm: EV 10-50 and a tailored installation

Tecnoalarm EV 10-50 is a hybrid system expandable from 10 to 50 wired, wireless and virtual zones. It incorporates IP and 4G LTE communications and offers video and home automation integration.

Zone capacity is not a count of protected rooms. What matters at home is a sensible arrangement of detectors and controls, including how you use the house and garage at night. Discuss configuration and ongoing support with an installer familiar with the range.

SATEL: PERFECTA 64 M and choosing wireless expansion

SATEL PERFECTA 64 M supports wired and wireless installations and has a built-in 2G/4G cellular communicator with two nano-SIM slots. Smartphone operation uses PERFECTA CONTROL.

Wireless expansion needs the correct hardware: ABAX 2 requires an ACU-220 or ACU-280 controller, while MICRA uses PERFECTA-RF. These are different options, and the panel cannot use both radio families simultaneously. The controller belongs on the component list alongside the panel and detectors.

What does a home alarm cost?

The starter kit and the installed alarm have different prices. Italian retailer Mondialtec listed Ajax StarterKit Cam Plus at €698 excluding VAT, or €851.56 with 22% Italian VAT, with Hub 2 Plus, a MotionCam, DoorProtect and SpaceControl. This is an indicative reference to reconfirm.

The component list did not include sirens, a keypad or extra detectors for other openings. Installation, configuration, cabling work and recurring services therefore need their own allowance. This is an Italian retail example, not a worldwide price range; availability, taxes and local installation costs vary.

Comparable proposals cover the same work: codes, quantities, tax, fitting, commissioning, support and recurring charges. A lower total may protect fewer openings or leave part of the service out.

Choosing an alarm around everyday life

Doors, windows and movement inside

Contacts and motion detectors perform different jobs. Protected entrances, use while occupants remain home and pets all shape detector selection and positioning during the survey.

Alerts and backup arrangements

Backup batteries, their maintenance and operation during power or Internet outages belong in the design. Cellular communication also requires a suitable SIM service. Phone notifications and contracted monitoring response remain separate arrangements.

Controls that belong in the interior

Keypads, readers and keyfobs must be comfortable for every occupant to use. Our article on bringing home protection into an interior design scheme explores the relationship between security and furnishings. Agree positions and finishes without compromising the devices’ intended function.

Where to buy and what to ask

For these professional ranges, a specialist installer and the manufacturer’s distribution network are useful starting points. If buying components online, establish in advance who will install, configure and support them. The lowest panel price does not settle those questions.

  • Coverage: which openings and areas are included, and which are outside the design?
  • Equipment: are power supplies, batteries, communication modules, controls and sirens included?
  • Running costs: what will you pay for SIM service, cloud functions, maintenance or monitoring, and which are optional?
  • Handover: does the price include commissioning, user instruction and installation documentation?
  • Support: who handles a fault, with what response arrangements and charges?

A security grade needs to refer to a defined configuration and its documentation; a component rating cannot describe the entire installation. A convincing proposal makes the purchase understandable, straightforward to use and maintainable with local support.
