Nicola, your career is characterized by a strong innovative drive. What personal experiences have most influenced you in shaping your vision in the field of design and education?

My vision in the field of design and education has been shaped by several key experiences, starting from my studies and my first work experiences in highly innovative contexts. I have always believed that training should not just be theoretical, but closely linked to the reality of the market. Working with startups, companies in the technology sector and large design brands, I understood the importance of integrating technology into training courses to make students truly ready for the challenges of the world of work.

His leadership has led NAD to stand out in the Italian training landscape. What were the key moments in your journey that contributed to this success?

NAD’s growth path has been marked by fundamental strategic choices. One of the key moments was the introduction of courses that combine design, innovation and business, offering students a 360-degree education. The integration of immersive technologies such as virtual and augmented reality has given our courses an edge. Furthermore, the collaboration with leading companies and professionals in the sector has allowed us to create a network of opportunities for students, guaranteeing them practical and concrete experiences.

According to the “Design Economy 2022” report, around 30,000 companies operate in the design sector in Italy. How is NAD positioned to prepare students to effectively enter this competitive market?

Five years after graduation, design graduates have an employment rate of 91%. How does NAD help maintain or improve this figure?

NAD actively contributes to this data through professionalization-oriented teaching. Thanks to our network of contacts with companies and design studios, students have access to internship opportunities and projects with real clients. Furthermore, our training is not limited to technical aspects, but includes fundamental soft skills such as leadership, problem-solving and networking skills, which make our graduates particularly sought after in the market.

The employment forecasts for the period 2024-2028 indicate that approximately 38% of the requirement will concern professions with tertiary training, with a particular demand in the STEM field. How is NAD adapting its training offerings to respond to these labor market trends?

We have expanded our training offering with courses that integrate technology and design, such as CGI Animation Design and Web Design & Communication. The goal is to prepare our students to work in a market increasingly oriented towards digitalization and innovation. Additionally, we work with technology companies to develop training modules that include STEM skills applied to design.

What are the most advanced technologies that NAD has integrated into its teaching process?

NAD has invested significantly in virtual (VR) and augmented (AR) reality, artificial intelligence, and advanced design software. Through our partnership with Vection Technologies and Cisco Webex, we offer an immersive learning environment that allows students to simulate and experiment with projects in real time, thereby improving their problem-solving skills and creativity.

What are NAD’s strategies to ensure training that promotes sustainable practices in design?

Sustainability is at the center of our teaching philosophy. The Green Design course is a concrete example of how we prepare our students to design with a responsible approach, using eco-friendly materials and innovative techniques to reduce environmental impact. Furthermore, we collaborate with companies that promote sustainability to offer internship opportunities and real-life projects.
